Jürgen Thomas has always felt drawn to flying. When he was a child in Leipzig he would try to take off using homemade wooden boxes. Now Thomas is working on a new dream - and this one is considerably larger. He and his team are developing the world's biggest airliner in Toulouse, France. The A3XX (current name A380) should fulfil the aviation requirements for the next fifty years. A mammoth task. The new super jumbo will have two decks with room for up to 555 passengers and - depending on the model - also a casino, communication center, sleeping cabins and even a creche. No concept is too bold for the engineers. A model with narrower rows of seats offering room for 800 passengers is also planned.
