Stephan Lamby was born in Bonn in 1959 and studied German and English literature in Marburg and Hamburg. He worked as a freelance journalist in New York and later became deputy chief editor at Radio 107 in Hamburg. His subsequent occupations include being editor and presenter at RTL television and presenter of the ARD interview program "talk taeglich". In 1992, Stephan Lamby became deputy head and presenter, and later head, of DIE ZEIT TV-Magazine (VOX). Since 1997 he is general manager of ECO Media TV-Produktion.
For his films he has been awarded numerous prizes, e.g. Media Award of the German Bundestag 2010, IFD Media Award 2010; Silver Victoria, International Economy Film Festival, Vienna 2010; German Economy Film Award 2010; Quandt Media Award 2009; Special Jury Award Worldfest Houston 2009; Hans Klein Media Award 2005; Robert Geisendörfer Award 2003. He has been nominated (among others) for Adolf Grimme Award, German Television Award, International Emmy, Golden Manolia Award Shanghai and the Rockie Award Banff/Kanada. He has been voted second in the election of Germany's best political journalist in 2009 by Medium Magazin. Stephan Lamby is member of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
